He composes well, delicate and decent, no big surprise is the writer of numerous mainstream books. In this way, in the wake of perusing the prelude. I was anticipating a simple and great draws syllable. be that as it may, it was nothing similar to this on. The principal thing that astonished me is the uncommon curtness parts 1-2 pages and prepared. At that point unusual drawings in the worn out sections looking like components of enchanted authenticity about how the courageous women body is growing quickly for the time being. I knew next to no toward the start, however then things deteriorated. The courageous woman is definitely no standards! - I comprehended. It is total gutless one promptly ensuing yield. It is inept and daze - Thats what I thought when she considered herself a shrewd It merits including that the primary character in the book named Babe - . What's more, it is very representative. From one perspective it is one of those young ladies who are called infant, infant, and Chick, on the other her youthfulness offers us to see a little kid The delightful young ladies in red cowhide jumpsuits gave her an apple with alerts about its slip-ups.. She read the engraving on the stickers and afterward overlook them. Continuously. What's more, it struck me. The more I read, the more the book helped me to remember an obscene novel or something of Radel suggestive writing. The fundamental character, as though the new Emmanul, should just call of the tissue by taking him for the call of the heart, each time enduring in light of the obliterated expectations. She needed a certain something, yet doing everything the other way. Before the finish of my request tired difference in sexual accomplices of Babe, and I read distinctly to discover, what all will end, as will be depicted by Richard Bach in this book, regardless of whether it will be in it by any stretch of the imagination - ved all men portrayed here, somehow with defects and didn't accommodate her. Each time she committed similar errors. End disillusioned me there was not wha t I was sitting tight for. In its consciousness of everything, I don't accept time after time all through the book she gave a guarantee and afterward promptly abused them. I didn't trust her. In my eyes, the champion has tumbled to the base, without the ethical partners, which encourages us settle on the correct choices. All things considered, there is this! A man can not be so! I seethed The most astounding thing that Richard Bach had requested that her compose this book.. A book about excellence, about her difficulties and book this true to life reality, with the conceivable exemption of imaginative methods with apples. I wonder what was he was finding out pretty much all these her sexual diversion with men, totally thoughtless and pointless, regardless of whether I was irritated with her for all. Red Delicious Review Essay Example Red Delicious Review Paper Exposition on Red Delicious I concede, it was simply inquisitive how skilled spouse of one of his preferred scholars. Instinct that nothing cheerful me not pausing, however interest showed signs of improvement and I began to peruse Red Delicious. I can not give this book even a cry of the spirit hurt ladies. Since nobody is harmed. She basically neglected to discard an endowment of nature the magnificence, and simultaneously for reasons unknown concluded that such a calamity have all pretty much lovely young ladies. Lets state, the issue of I need, yet the acumen can not see, there extremely many. In any case, in the event that they are coasting from man to man in the quest for arrangements of this difficulty? Cliché courageous woman named Babe pre-adulthood raced to the breezes, grieved after an accomplice again hurried to the breezes, endured physical mortification, left, returned thus the entire book. Not the smallest trace of contemplation than Oh, I am so wonderful, yet in truth additionally savvy! For what reason do men just glance at my boobs? Before the finish of the book I attempted to adapt to the bothering. I was trusting that before the finish of the book they make something with the end goal that will incite an extreme change in the brain and life of the courageous woman, and I a tempest of esteem. Not at all like this. The topic isn't uncovered totally. The main expression articulated by the agent of the Apple made me the response of Yes! At the point! a Babe, Im not going to converse with the sovereign. As I would see it, this is the principle thought of the book. Lady thinks uterus, uterus breaks down, conveys to men is likewise the uterus. Head there is on a fundamental level no Over a hundred pages to the last primary character resembled. Bilateral Ankle Fusion in Leak Syndrome Induced Deformity

Reciprocal Ankle Fusion in Leak Syndrome Induced Deformity Dynamic Presentation: Systemic narrow hole disorder is an uncommon state of obscure etiology characterized by abrupt scene of hypotension, high hematocrit and low serum protein fixation because of slim hyperpermeability. A few medicines have been distributed for this pathology and inevitable compartment condition yet not for the debilitating outcomes. This clinical case features the negative orthopedic outcomes of an extreme foundational assault and reports an ensuing deformation treatment alternative that brought about patient personal satisfaction improvement. As far as anyone is concerned, orthopedic medical procedure for fundamental narrow hole disorder incited foot and lower leg distortion is introduced just because. CASE PRESENTATION: A 40-year-old caucasian female patient was alluded to our foundation for reciprocal foot and lower leg deformation after compartment disorder during fundamental narrow break condition assault. She introduced a reciprocal unbending equino-cavo-varus-adductus deformation causing walk debilitation. Two-sided lower leg combination by retrograde nailing was acted in a two-arranged technique. Unbending paw toes were likewise carefully tended to in an extra system. Radiologically, clear lower leg combination happened at 3 months post-operation in the two sides. Disfigurement rectification permitted the patient to recover strolling limit. A correct lower leg tibiotalar bombed arthrodesis was seen at two years post-operation. Prophylactic human immunoglobulin treatment was started after the last medical procedure with no repetitive assault enlisted during the 38 months follow-up period. End: Bilateral lower leg combination improved this patient personal satisfaction by restoring strolling limit and bringing down the likelihood of lower appendage disfigurement related ulcers and contaminations. Major and minor complexities are likewise talked about. This report adds to the worldwide information about this condition and evokes the significance of the incited deformations careful rectification. Watchwords: foundational slim break disorder, (SCLS), compartment condition, equino-varus, lower leg combination, lower leg retrograde nailing, human immunoglobulin. Presentation Foundational hairlike hole disorder (SCLS), describedby Clarkson et al. in 1960 [1], is an uncommon condition characterized by abrupt scenes of hypovolemic stun, raised hematocrit and hypoalbuminemia without albuminuria [2, 3]. The etiology is as yet obscure, albeit a few potential triggers have been accounted for as upper respiratory tract contaminations, continued physical exertion and period [1, 4]. It brings about summed up or segmental edema and, in extreme cases, compartment condition requiring rising fasciotomy [2-5]. The unexpected intracompartimental high weight regularly starts vascular and neurological harm and resulting lower appendage disfigurement [3, 6]. Drawn out emergency clinic stay may likewise bother this condition with osteoporosis following a drawn out immobilization or appendage neglect. Disfigurement often prompts walk hindrance and diminished personal satisfaction [7]. A couple of review reads report lower leg combination for rectification of compartment disorder initiated deformation. None of them included SCLS etiology for compartment disorder [6,7]. A few medications have been distributed for SCLS and compartment condition [1-5] however not for the handicapping results. As far as anyone is concerned, orthopedic medical procedure for SCLS incited foot and lower leg distortion is introduced just because. CASE PRESENTATION A 40-year-old caucasian female patient was alluded to our establishment because of respective foot and lower leg deformation. She had been recently determined to have fundamental hairlike hole disorder after unexpected scene of hypotension, high hematocrit and low serum protein fixation. This intense stage was overseen by liquid resuscitation. The ensuing summed up compartment disorder was treated with broad fasciotomies of the two arms, lower arms, hands, thighs and legs. She remained three weeks in the emergency unit eight months hospitalized. Albeit a serious exercise based recuperation program was applied, she couldn't walk and self-sufficiency was restricted to a wheelchair. On assessment she introduced a reciprocal extreme solid equino-cavo-varus-adductus disfigurement with withdrawal because of subcutaneous and muscle scarring and neurological deficiency. Hook hallux and lesser toes were additionally present reciprocally. Plantigrade weight bearing was unrealistic (Fig. 1). American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score was 20 focuses. Plain radiographs demonstrated reciprocal equinovarus lower leg disfigurement with supinated feet (Fig. 2). Achilles, back tibial and flexor digitorum longus ligaments extending was performed by average methodology related to right tibio-talocalcaneal arthrodesis with a retrograde bolted intramedullary nail (PANTAÂÂ ® IntegraTM) by parallel methodology. Distal fibula bone was utilized as an autograft. At about two months of development, plastic medical procedure applied a free skin unite over a steady post-employable average rankle (Fig. 3). Evident combination was acquired at a quarter of a year post-operatively (Fig. 4). A half year after the underlying medical procedure, combination of the left lower leg was acted in the very same style. Careful injury dehiscence was the transient confusion and was settled with dressing changes. Combination was acquired at a quarter of a year post-operatively. (Fig. 4). Fourteen months after the main medical procedure, we reported intermittent dorsal proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints irritation with shoe wear. Right foot Moberg osteotomy, resection arthroplasty of PIP joints and flexor ligament tenotomy of all the lesser toes were performed. Left foot Moberg osteotomy, PIP joints combination of the second and third toes with intramedullary direct embed (Ipp-Onã‚â ® IntegraTM), PIP joints resection arthroplasty of the fourth toe and flexor ligament tenotomy of all the lesser toes were performed. Disappointment of the left hallux Moberg osteotomy staple caused equipment evacuation at about a month and a half post-operation (Fig. 5). The restoration convention included quick weight-holding on for strolling boots and lower appendage seepage. Prophylactic human immunoglobulin treatment was started after the last medical procedure. She recaptured strolling limit with adjusted shoes and came back to work four months after left foot medical procedure. AOFAS score was 61 focuses. No toes related protests, pressure ulcers or terminal putrefaction of the toes were found. Two years after starting medical procedure she griped of right lower leg torment once more with weight bear and nearby expanding. Radiologically, bombed arthrodesis with tibiotalar and subtalar bone reabsorption, peri-embed proximal radiolucency and distal calcaneus screw crack were appeared (Fig. 6). No neighborhood seepage or blood test contamination parameters were found. Just indicative treatment and nonsteroidal mitigating drugs were endorsed. At 38 months of follow-up the patient alludes no huge right lower leg torment and no SCLS assaults repeat were enrolled. Conversation This high-hazard patients and the capricious course of the ailment required a multidisciplinary treatment choices conversation. The patient never acknowledged irreversible self-governance misfortune and knew about all the conceivable negative medical procedure outcomes when she marked the medical procedure assent. There are barely any treatment choices for long haul sequelae of compartment disorder that incorporate arthroscopic helped arthrodesis, combination with outside fixator or inner gadgets, for example, plates or intramedullary nails. Arthroscopic arthrodesis is a brilliant choice while saving the delicate tissues is required, be that as it may, this revision is restricted to gentle disfigurements. Outer obsession speaks to a genuine danger of pin tract contamination with no accord about anticipation treatment [8] and along these lines we advocate as a potential hazard for SCLS backslide. Combination with plate and screws infers an extensive hostility to the effectively harmed delicate tissues, in spite of the fact that it speaks to a high solidness develop. The creators dealt with this clinical case as an equino-varus-cavo-adductus disfigurement after lower furthest point compartment condition. Retrograde nailing stayed away from broad striping and Berend et al. has exhibited better biomechanics solidness contrasted with crossed screws [9]. Wang et al. [6] depicted superb fulfillment rate after retrograde nailing for lower limit compartment sequelae. No tendinous exchanges were considered because of neurological deficiency, scarred muscles and hardened joints. Hook toes deformation has a high danger of weight ulcers by shoe wear struggle. Nearby contamination in SCLS patients may speak to a potential trigger for backslide and accordingly should be adjusted. Considering the solid interphalangeal joints, hallux paw disfigurement was overseen by reciprocal Moberg osteotomy. Lesser toes were tended to by resection arthroplasty of PIP joints except for the stiffer left second and third toes that were focused with an intramedullary control embed [10]. Combination pace of just half (1/2 lower legs) was low contrasted with another distributed examination that show rates around 91% of essential hard association after reciprocal lower leg arthrodesis. Notwithstanding, none of these patients had post-compartment condition lower leg distortion and related sequelae [11]. Without any indications of disease, late bombed arthrodesis might be identified with compartment disorder, neighborhood vascular and neurological harm, specialized blunder or even SCLS as such. Three minor difficulties were enrolled. One enormous posteromedial rankle required skin joining a month and a half after right lower leg strategy. A left lower leg sidelong careful injury dehiscence recuperated by optional expectation just with dressing changes. Disappointment of left hallux Moberg osteotomy staple was overseen by equipment evacuation. These inconveniences are generally normal and have been recently portrayed in foot and lower leg deformation amending arthrodesis [6, 12]. They are as a rule because of poor skin and vascular conditions. No postponed weight bearing was seen in recovery program because of brief and effective treatment. Concerning deformi

Noel Cowards Supernatural Comedy Blithe Spirit

Imagine London during World War II. Germany’s Blitzkrieg assaults the city with an arsenal of bombs. Buildings collapse. Lives are lost. People flee to the English countryside. Now imagine a 40-year-old playwright living in England during this time. He spends five days writing a play (in between his covert operations as a member of Britain’s Secret Service). What might that play be about? War? Survival? Politics? Pride? Despair? No. The playwright is Noel Coward. And the play he created during England’s battle-scarred year of 1941 is Blithe Spirit, a delightfully satirical comedy about ghosts. The Basic Plot Charles Condomine is a successful novelist. Ruth is his charming, strong-willed wife. In order to conduct research for Charles’ latest book, they invite a medium to their home to perform a sà ©ance, expecting that the eccentric psychic, Madame Arcati, will be a humorous shyster. Well, she is humorous – in fact, her boisterous character practically steals the show! However, her ability to connect with the dead is genuine. After prancing about the room reciting nursery rhymes, Madame Arcati summons a ghost from Charles’ past: Elvira – his first wife. Charles can see her, but no one else can. Elvira is flirtatious and catty. She enjoys insulting Charles’ second wife. At first, Ruth thinks her husband has gone insane. Then, after watching a vase float across the room (thanks to Elvira), Ruth accepts the strange truth. What follows is a darkly funny competition between two women, one dead, one living. They battle for the possession of their husband. But as the haunting and the hollering continue, Charles begins to wonder if he wants to be with either woman at all. Ghosts on Stage - â€Å"You Mean You Can’t See Her?!† Spirit characters have been part of theater since its Greek beginnings. In Shakespeare’s time, ghosts were prominent in his tragedies. Hamlet can see his father’s doomed specter, but Queen Gertrude sees nothing. She thinks her son has gone coo-coo. It’s a fun theatrical concept, perhaps now over-used in plays, television, and movies. After all, how many sappy sitcoms feature a protagonist that talks to a ghost which no one else can see? Despite this, Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit still feels fresh. Coward’s play goes beyond the comic mix-ups inherent in most supernatural comedies. The play explains love and marriage more than it explores the afterlife. Torn Between Two Lovers? Charles is caught in a farcical trap. He had been married to Elvira for five years. Although they both had extra-marital affairs, he claims to have loved her. And of course, he explains to his living wife, Ruth is currently the love of his life. However, when Elvira’s ghost returns to the earthly world, things get complicated. At first, Charles is shocked by Elvira’s appearance. But then the experience becomes pleasant and soothing, much like their old life together. Charles’ suggests that it would be â€Å"fun† to have Elvira’s ghost stay with them. But that â€Å"fun† turns into a deadly duel, made all the more cunning by Coward’s surgically incisive wit. Ultimately, Coward suggests that a husband can be in love with two people at the same time. However, once the women find out about each other, disastrous results are sure to follow! Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit playfully mocks the traditions of love and marriage. It also thumbs its nose at the Grim Reaper. What a perfect defense mechanism against the harsh realities England faced during World War II. West End audiences embraced this darkly amusing comedy. Blithe Spirit became a resounding success that continues to haunt the British and American stage.

Moss and Mcadams Accounting Firm Free Essays

RUNNING HEAD: MOSS AND MCADAMS Assignment #1: Moss and McAdams Accounting Firm Strayer University Bus 517 Bruce Palmer was a good guy looking to make a difference. He was lead to believe that Zeke Olds was going to be available to him throughout the project and that was not the case. He was led astray and betrayed by Ken Crosby, a new guy to MM. We will write a custom essay sample on Moss and Mcadams Accounting Firm or any similar topic only for you Order Now Crosby knew if he made the case to Sands early, that he would get his way. The client was one that MM was competing to get with two other big 5 accounting firms and since Crosby came from a Big 5 accounting firm, MM was going to give him whatever he needed to complete the project. Crosby was recruited specifically to manage special projects and this qualified as such. Even though Olds was already slated to work on the Johnsonville audit, Sands was persuaded by Crosby to let Olds work on his team due to the expertise that was essential to the Springfield project. If I was Palmer I would have talked to management about how the process is being handled and offer up a suggestion so that no other project manager would be misled by another. Palmer should have stood firm with Crosby from the beginning and maybe there would not have been a major issue along the way. He waited too long to talk with Sands and it proved that Palmers passive way was his demise in dealing with Crosby and ultimately lost him Olds on his project. Once Olds started to do consulting work he realized that auditing was not as fun as consulting work. I do not believe Palmer could have anything to prevent losing Olds. Olds might have had good intentions but he showed a lack of focus when he started showing up 30-60 minutes late. Palmer should have scheduled a meeting with Olds and try to figure out what Olds wanted to do. A mistake on Palmer’s part was never sitting down with Sands and telling her what was going on. There may have been no change but at least he would have stated his frustration and put the responsibility to resolve the issue with Sands. The lack of focus on the project by Olds being stretched in by two teams and conflicting priorities caused Olds to feel stressed. Palmer should have prioritized Olds objectives and set clear deliverables for him to measure up against. Had he told Olds what was expected he could have got ahead of the problem but instead he let Crosby interfere and drive Olds away from his project. Crosby never had any intention of letting Olds work on both projects. He made it clear to Sands when he first started that Olds was critical to the project and he wanted him on his team. Sands went along because Olds is a valuable player in the office and felt that it would be a good match. The problem with this situation is that Olds was being pulled in too many directions and not allowed to focus on projects that suited his talents. This is often the case in matrix type organizations. The disadvantage of a the matrix organization is instead of delegating segments of a project to different unit or creating an team, project members report to simultaneously to both functional and project managers. Having resources shared across multiple projects and divisions sounds like an efficient way to divide the energy of individuals across multiple projects on an as needed basis is a disadvantage as seen at MM. Olds was divided across multiple projects and ended up not being very efficient. Have a strong project focus is a clear advantage of a matrix organization because it provides having a formally designated project manager who is responsible for coordinating and integrating contributions of several units. This helps sustain a holistic approach to problem solving that is most often missing in functional organizations. Although this is an advantage, it was not the case at MM. The lack of project focus resulted in one project lacking the resource to complete the project. There was no coordination or integration between the two teams and resulted in two project managers fighting over one employee. The dysfunctional conflict between Crosby and Palmer opened up the tension between the two managers. There was a legitimate conflict that arose from conflicting agendas and responsibilities. The Springfield project was clearly a higher priority than the Johnsonville audit and Sands should have told Palmer, that although he is valuable to the audit, he would be more successful for the Springfield project. Palmer could have pulled another resource to take Olds place or hire a contractor to fill in the time when Olds would not be available. Olds was caught in a stressful situation where he was working in an environment in which he was being told to do two different tasks and had two different agendas by two different managers. This all led to infighting over Olds being shared across both projects and the two managers competing over for one resource. Palmer and Crosby were only concerned about their respective projects and Crosby knew what his end game was all along. Palmer was not clever enough to outwit Crosby and therefor he lost out on Olds. MM management clearly needs to set priorities and objectives for projects. The matter in which Sands handled Olds splitting time between two managers shows the type of organizational culture at MM. The matrix is one part of the equation but the culture is how that matrix is driven. The type of culture in MM lends the opportunity for Crosby to manipulate another manager for his personal gain. Sands knew that the Springfield project was high profile and Crosby was hired from a Big 5 firm for projects like these. Sands should have taken the time to hear Palmer’s concerns and make an informed decision. She only heard from Crosby and was told by Olds and with no regard for Palmer, made a decision to move Olds to Crosby’s project to satisfy the organization at the cost of another project. The norm, customs, shared values, and the â€Å"rules of the game† for getting along and getting ahead in the MM organization are clear to see from this project. They need to change how they select and assign project staff to multiple projects. They need to develop a system that appropriately balances the needs of the project with those of the organization. They could send out a survey to poll the employees to see how they would like to be selected for a project in order to get employees that wanted to do certain types of projects. Culture encourages the implementation of projects. How to cite Moss and Mcadams Accounting Firm, Essay examples

Taj Mahal Taj Mahal Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world, and some Western historians have noted that it's architectural beauty has never been surpassed. The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals, the Muslim rulers of India. Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj Mahal as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna River. A Muslim, Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife and queen built the Taj Mahal at Agra, India. The society at the time was very productive and created a lot of success and hope for the Indians there. When Mumtaz Mahal was still alive, she extracted four promises from the emperor: first, that he build the Taj Mahal; second, that he should marry again; third, that he should be kind to their children; and fourth, that he visit the tomb on her death anniversary. He kept the 1st and 2nd promises. The construction began in 1631. The expert craftsman from Delhi, Qannauj, Lahore, and Multan were employed. They constructed the monument over a period of twenty-two years, with employment of 20,000 workers. The total amount spent on the beautiful and sacred monument was 32 million rupees. The problems and issues of the Taj Mahal was very difficult back then. Actually, it was two main issues, but they were very burdensome. The only issue was the death of his wife and getting the beautiful monument done. The lengthy wait and the overcoming of her death was too much for Shah Jahan, but he had promised to his loving wife that he would eventually complete the sacred monument in her name. Everyone has their own favorite time to see the Taj Mahal. Crowds will distract you from the cool, serene presence of this flawless monument. The best way is to try arriving just as it opens or as it is about to close. A few minutes alone in the perpetually echoing inner sanctum will reward you far more than several hours spent on a guided tour. The sensuously curving lines of the temple of love demand to be savored without interruption, then the presence of the building itself will impart its own message. The event has triggered being part of the wonders of the world. It started to attract many people from other cultures because of its beauty and the mystery behind it. It intrigues people on how one person designs a monument for his wife and tries to accomplish the promises she gave before she had died. People wonder how that much love from one man to his wife can show that there is always hope in a relationship even after the significant other dies. Negative events were not really triggered in this situation. In this case, Mumtaz Mahal was in love with her husband, Shah Jahan. She wanted to have the love continue and that is why she had given those four promises to help realize that the love can still grow strong. The monument symbolizes the love that Shah Jahan had for his deceased wife, Mumtaz. Mumtaz wanted this monument more than anything. She wanted to be remembered with a monument, which symbolizes "eternal love." As a tribute to a beautiful woman and as a monument for enduring love, the Taj Mahal reveals its subtleties when one visits it without being in a hurry. The rectangular base of the Taj Mahal is in itself symbolic of the different sides from which to view a beautiful woman. The main gate is like a veil to a woman's face that should be lifted delicately, gently, and without haste on the wedding night. In my tradition, the veil is lifted gently to reveal the beauty of the bride. As one stands inside the main gate of the Taj Mahal, his eyes are directed to an arch that frames the Taj Mahal. The dome is made of white marble and the background works its magic colors. The colors change at different hours of the day. It sparkles in the moonlight when the light hits the white marble and catches the glow of the moon. The reflections of light seem to depict the different moods of the woman. The tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal are actually located in a shadowy burial crypt. At ground level, in the very center of the building is the cenotaph dedicated

Use SOAP to Edit Your Medical Residency Statement

Use SOAP to Edit Your Medical Residency Statement Getting into the medical residency program of choice is based upon a bit of luck, a match with the program, and your personal statement. Lets take a look at some mistakes and typical areas of weakness in the many personal statements Ive edited. While these examples and themes came from applicants to medical residency programs, the same challenges and advice apply to other graduate-level programs as well.Applicants at this level have already accomplished a great deal with their careers and in their lives. The challenge is usually not to find what to write about, but rather how to retain focus, organize and convey the personality of the applicant. Lets go thru some themes which highlight typical mistakes and patterns which need to be converted to expected forms of polite, academic and professional writing.Well do a little bit of wordplay on the SOAP note familiar to physicians.S: Simple detailsIve seen both extremes in the writing of my customers. On the one hand some applicants write with very colloquial and informal English which needs to be polished up. On the other hand, others write very extended and lengthy sentences which need simplification. Neither is particularly appropriate for these application statements. Reviewers are looking thru hundreds of statements and they like to read organized and clearly constructed sentences. Simple sentences are good, but they should also provide useful and compelling details. For example, one could write something like After completing my second-year residency at General One Hospital I did a fellowship in pediatrics where I realized I loved working with children. Split this sentence in two, and be more specific with the second half, for example, I completed my second year at General One Hospital. During my pediatric fellowship there my extensive exposure to terminally ill pediatric oncology patients heightened my awareness of treating both the patient and working with their extended families. This second sentence does thr ee things, it demonstrates your medical vocabulary, conveys your personality, and describes in detail your exposure to this specialty.O: OrganizeTheres a typical chronological theme in most statements. This may or may not be appropriate. Depending on your experiences, focus most of your text on describing recent and pertinent information related to the specialty that you are interested in. Ive seen statements that spend two or three paragraphs on describing pre-medical school awards and interest, family background, and specific details on the names of each fellowship or hospital one has worked in. Its not usually necessary to list each organization that youve studied or worked in, that information is provided elsewhere in your application packet. Its also not usually going to add much to provide early history information, youve already made it to medical school, and everyone assumes youre competent! Therefore, when you organize your personal statement, I recommend you write up an out line of supporting experiences which demonstrate your interest in a specialty. The best personal statements Ive read do this very well. For example, the applicant will use one paragraph to write about a medical encounter that was a salient moment in the target specialty. Theyll then spend another paragraph describing further research or observership experiences related to that field. Importantly they will also then write a few sentences on what the target program has to offer. For example, Im particularly interested in the strong research program in this residency. I plan to continue in academic research and further my research in renal disease.A: AddAlthough brevity is key to any good writing, I have found that most applicants write loose sentences. In some ways, this is just a transfer of conversational language down onto paper. This, however, lacks the hallmark of good writing. Schools are looking for applicants that can convey an idea clearly, with detail and brevity. Take for e xample the previous sentence I wrote, it has a very simple structure with three points separated by commas at the end. This structure helps the sentence to convey a great deal of information in an expected format that makes it easy to read. Use this format to add punch to your sentences. You dont want to do this in every sentence but use it at least once or twice in the statement. For example, I have a passion for emergency medicine, I have found it challenges my memory and knowledge, it is exhilarating, and the outcomes are immediate. Another example, I came to the U.S. expecting a great deal and I found my training here state-of-the-art, challenging, and satisfying. Simple, one-two-three.P: PersonalResidency programs are usually not extremely large groups, therefore programs are looking for diversity and personalities that will complement and work well with others in the program. Most applicants do not spend a lot of time describing themselves. This is okay, as its not a dating co ntest, but do take the time to describe your passions, motivations, and experiences in the target specialty as you describe your experiences. For example, Ive seen excellent sentences such as The approach to patient care was holistic and there was an emphasis on psychosocial history. I felt these factors made family practice exciting, versatile and challenging. Another example, I have been impressed by the vast array of clinical presentations and management options for cardiac diseases. I was fascinated by observing how a cardiologist can diagnose many valvular and other cardiac conditions using only a stethoscope. So there you have it, a quick personal statement SOAP note. Use the ideas presented here as your own checklist when reviewing your statement. Are my sentences simple and clear while also providing useful details about my experiences? Is my statement organized, does it lead the reader to conclude that I am an excellent candidate for this program based on my experiences and motivations? Did I add descriptive words, medical terminology, and experiences that demonstrate my mastery of the subject? And finally, is the statement personal? Does it show why I will invest so much time in this specialty? As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, most applicants at this level are already very accomplished in their professional and personal lives. Taking the time to edit, and finding a good editor to work together on this will provide you with the best possible opportunities and also let a little luck work her magic. Continued success to everyone!

Business Strategy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Business Strategy - Essay Example This framework is used to analyse the global pharmaceutical industry. In the given case, it can be noted that the pharmaceutical industry is characterised by a highly risky and lengthy research which is very costly. This industry is capital intensive given that the cost of developing a new drug is estimated at over $ 1 billion which deters other small players from entering it. The industry is also under stringent government regulation which makes it challenging for other competitors to enter it. It is not very easy to find a substitution for a drug given the complexity of the process involved in carrying out the research as well as the costs For instance, Lipitor could not be easily replaced or substituted in the given case study. The buyers are affected by various factors which affect their buying power. As a result of the global economic crisis, consumer spending power with regards to health care has been affected. However, those with medical insurance can afford to meet their heal thcare requirements. Unfortunately, about 46 % of the people in the US do not have medical insurance and this has a bearing on their buying power of the drugs. It also has to be noted that the government controls the industry since it is the largest purchaser of the drugs in a bid to control the health sector. Since this a sensitive sector, it can be noted that the suppliers have no bargaining powers since the industry is strictly controlled. The pricing regime is controlled by the government so there is no single supplier who can charge very high prices. There is intense competition for intellectual property among existing players as they compete to preserve their inventions. This industry is highly specialised and this is the reason why there is rivalry among existing players as they seek to dominate it. Over and above, it can be noted that the Five Forces Framework map is relevant in identifying the environmental forces affecting the global pharmaceutical industry. It can be note d that there are different factors that characterise this industry hence there is need to take these into consideration so as to be in a better position to establish the attractiveness of this particular industry. Failure to do so can result in wrong perceptions about the industry since it is a bit different from other industries. b). In order to establish whether these forces differ by industry sector as well as the place they can be placed in different sectors in the industry life-cycle, it is important to begin by explaining the meaning of industry or product life cycle. Basically, every product has a certain life cycle in the market. Therefore, product life cycle refers to the different phases passed by the product in the market from the time it is introduced until its withdrawal period (Strydom, 2003). The product usually passes through four distinct stages namely: introduction, growth, maturity and decline. From this definition, it can be seen that the five forces discussed ab ove differ by industry sector. For instance, the forces that operate within a clothing and textile industry are different from those operating in the pharmaceutical industries as a result of various reasons. First and foremost, it must be noted that the industry life cycle of the pharmaceutical

Advanced Business Process Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Advanced Business Process Management - Essay Example A number of benefits of IT & IS will be found such as collaboration, work site flexibility, management development, employee improvement etc. Although some disadvantages are accomplished with those, significance & usefulness of Information technology & system cannot be avoided in reengineering process. Our discussion begins with a popular concern today relating the necessity or adversity of information technology & information system in today's business reengineering process. We already know that, in today's complex business context Information technology & system are used to improve the quality of products, services or overall organizational performance. Thus, once an organization makes a decision to enhance the quality of products & services, it must then decide how to implement them. This approach of managing quality is TQM or Total Quality Management. Thus, our further discussion will show the impact of IT & IS in business reengineering process while the firm's main concentration goes to improving its product's performance. Before going forth to the argument of positive & negative impact of Information technology & Information system on reengineering process, we should have a clear concept of the key issues those are essential to make a value judgment over the topics. Our given concern has several important issues like Information Technology (IT), Information System (IS), and Business Process Reengineering Project & consequently all those issues turn to the destination of achieving high quality of company's product. Information is data presented in the way or form that has meaning that means, it has a meaning to the manager & provides a basic for action. So Information technology or IT refers to the resources used by the organization to manage information that it needs in order to carry out its mission. IT may consist of computers, computer network, and telephones; fax machines & other pieces of hardware. IT involves software that facilitates the systems ability to manage information in a way that is useful for the organization. Using this system, company can identify how a given product or product line are selling in number of stores over any meaningful period of time. Information system may be a misnomer. It suggests that there is one system, but in fact a firm's employees will have different interests, job responsibilities & decision-making requirements. One information system can not accommodate such variety of information requirements. Thus IS is a complex set of several information that share information while serving different levels of the organization, different departments or different organizations. Business process reengineering is a management approach that aims to the improvements of elevating efficiency and effectiveness of the processes exist within and across the organizations. The key motive of BPR (Business Process Reengineering) from a "clean slate" focuses and determines how they can best construct these processes to improve conducting their business. Business Process Redesign, Business Transformation, or Business Process Change Management is other titles of BPR. According to Michael Hammer, as a number of works has been done not adding any value for customers, those works should be eliminated rather than companies should consider their processes because of maximizing customer

Impacts on Quality of Life and Performance

Impacts on Quality of Life and Performance Steps Towards Success Abhay Shrivastava Abstract— Success in general means achieving an aim or attaining one’s goal. To some people success is living a comfortable and respectful life, some believe that success is a journey of hard work through endless efforts to achieve the desired goal, while others think having hefty amount of money is a real success. But for me â€Å"success is living your dreams and fulfilling your desire.† In the process of getting success one either achieves it or fails in his efforts. It is said by a great poet that â€Å"the real taste of success can only be understood by a man who have tasted the defeat†. Sometimes success also depends on the fate but that’s not true in every case. Even if the fate is not favoring us we can lead towards success by putting extra efforts and doing hard work. But fate without efforts leads us nowhere. One needs to put himself/herself into his/her goal whole heartedly. Success is also affected by the priorities of life, someone wants to grow professionally while the other satisfies themselves by holding the responsibility of family i.e. their personal life or some people wants to get the higher rank in society. For all such people success mean differently. Index Terms— Success, Hard work, Efforts, Goal, Aim I. Introduction This paper is about what makes a difference in the quality of life of people, what makes a difference in their performance, so that they get the result they want. Everybody wants to be successful but to be successful one first has to understand what success means. Success in general means achieving an aim or attaining one’s goal. To some people success is living a comfortable and respectful life, some believe that success is a journey of hard work through endless efforts to achieve the desired goal, while others think having hefty amount of money is a real success According to the great motivator Tony Robbins â€Å"success is being able to do whatever you want, with whom ever you want, where ever you want as much as you want†. According to Jack Canfield â€Å"success is fulfilling your soul’s purpose† Every scholar has given a different definition about success but according to me â€Å"success is living your dreams with both open and closed eyes and knowing the art of fulfilment.† In the process of getting success one has to face many hindrances, many setbacks a lot of pain. But if a person faces them with courage, he/she can be successful. But most people don’t do that after trying once or twice they say to themselves that it can’t be done, it is not possible. We all know that Mr. Edison invented the bulb after more than 10,000 attempts. What if he had stopped trying after 10-20 attempts. We would not have bulbs. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart. Nothing is impossible if you are ready to take the chance. If you don’t know how to do the task what you are trying to do then take the guidance from the person who has already done that. Technical education can be achieved easily but attitude of â€Å"not quitting† has to be developed. A study shows that most of the people quit their task when they are about to succeed, they quit when they are at the doors of success. In ‘ YOU CAN WIN’ Mr Shiv Khera writes that every success story is a story of great failure, he shares the life history of a man who failed in business at the age of 21, was defeated in a legislative race at the age of 22, failed again in business at the age of 24, his sweetheart died when he was of age 26, had a nervous breakdown at age 27, lost a congressional race at age 34, lost a senatorial race at age 45, failed in an effort to become vice-president at the age of 47, lost senatorial race at the age of 49, and was elected as the president of United States at the age of 52. This man was Abraham Lincoln.[1] So it is important to make continuous efforts in making your dream come true. II. SOME HINDRANCES IN SUCCESS Fear of failure/success. Lack of self-confidence. No plan. Procrastinating. Family responsibility. Financial security issue. Insincerity about goal. Stress. Underestimation. Comparison with others. Worthiness. Negative Attitude Doing too much alone. Lack of priority. Lack of training. Lack of resources. Most of the hindrances described above are not real, they are imaginary. They can be resolved by keeping certain points in mind. We all know what is holding us back. Usually most people wait for ideal conditions never get that. And successful people make the condition favourable for them. III. Following steps will help you in reaching on acme of your life You: Everything starts from and with you. If you are ready, you can do anything. If you take the responsibility of your life, state and condition, if you stop blaming and complaining, then you will start believing in yourself, you will begin to discover your strength capability. What happens when we blame others for our mistakes, we neglect our weaknesses rather than focusing and overcoming them. If we complain about something we are being pessimistic, we focus on the lack of resources, we focus on what went wrong rather focusing on what can be done now. So we should stop blaming and complaining and should start accepting and taking the responsibility of our life. Nightingale said that â€Å"all of us are self-made but only the successful will accept it† so start believing in yourself. Goal Setting: Goal setting is the most important factor in getting success. It’s like knowing the destination where you want to reach. Most people are running without any goal, without knowing where they want to go. So set a goal first. It is important to set a goal in order to make an action plan. While setting a goal we should remember one thing, we should not just set a goal, we should set a goal with time limit. Because if we time bound ourselves, our brain starts working faster. It wants to produce the result before the deadline. For example if you want to lose weight rather saying â€Å"I want to lose weight† say â€Å"I want to lose 5 pound before 10 May 2014†. Vague goals lead to vague results. Try to be more specific with time, when we have particular time duration to perform a task our brain functions more efficiently, with more concentrations. We all know the functionality of GPS system when we put the exact destination it shows us the way. What if we just put the name of the lane or city where we want to go, it will take us to the starting of that lane or city not at our destination. So we have to be more specific about our goals. â€Å"What and By When†. Because the things that we schedule are the things that we get done. Dream Big Visualize: Gen. Wesley Clark (Former Head of NATO) said â€Å"It doesn’t take any more effort to dream a big dream than it does to dream a small dream†. You have the ability to do things that you can’t even imagine. Most people don’t realise that majority of people fail not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit and many don’t aim at all. It is important to dream big because if we dream big we visualize big, if we visualize big we put more efforts to make it real. It increases our efficiency, our dedication and concentration increases to turn the dream into reality. Dream big, don’t think how you are going to do it, that’s going to come in due time. You are going to develop a plan of action; you will become the person who will attract the people and resources according to your need. Here is an example of turning a dream into reality. Everyone knows ‘Chicken soup for the soul’ fame Jack Canfield and Mark. One day they decided to sell 1 million copies of their book. They didn’t know how they were going to do that, they just visualized it every day and night, one day after a seminar Jack took a bus to his home, the lady sitting next to him recognize him and asked â€Å"you are chicken soup guy? What you and Mark are next up to?† he replied â€Å"we are trying to sell 1 million copies in one day† she replied â€Å"I can help you in doing that† he asked how? She said â€Å"we are buyer for the WB bookstore all over the world† and rest is history. They sold 1 million copies in one day. Our visualization has power. Our mind can’t rationalize between reality and visualization. An experiment was done on a bunch of people; they were asked to close their eyes and imagine themselves standing on the roof of the world tal lest building without any railing. Some of them started shivering and some stepped back, their brain didn’t rationalize between reality and visualization. If we visualize our dream daily we force it to become reality. A study from Duke University Para Psychology center shows that our thoughts have ultimate power. Whatever we visualize we send this energy upto 250,000 miles. It’s like sending email up to 250,000 miles asking for response, and the important thing is someone always responds sooner or later. Like in the case of Jack and Mark, they just visualized their goal and got the reply few weeks later. Dr Masaru Emoto a Japanese author and entrepreneur described the power of thought in his book â€Å"The hidden message in water†. He said water has the capability to store energy. He did an experiment on water. He took a sample of water and told some people to send negative energy (like useless, dirty, poisonous etc.) to the water and then took another sample and ask some people to send positive energy(like beautiful, calm, necessary, tasty etc.) then froze both the samples at 20 degree below 0. Once it was frozen they put both under the microscope. As the water started melting, it formed crystal and it was seen that different kind of energy formed different kind of crystals. The water which received positive energy made beautiful crystal and the water which received negative energy formed distorted crystal. They did this experiment on LAKE BIWA (The largest freshwater lake in Japan), and on Saint Crolx River that divides the state Wisconsin and Minnesota, on Mississippi river . Why it is important because 85% of our body is made up of water by generating positive energy, by constantly thinking positive we create positive energy inside us and vice versa.[2] Figure 1. Photo of negative energy water and positive energy water. Stay Optimistic: Being optimistic, having a positive attitude contributes a lot in one’s success. Shiv Khera says â€Å"positive thinking does not guaranteed success; positive thinking increases the probability of success† [1]. Having a positive attitude makes a pleasing personality, it energizes you, it increases your enjoyment of life, inspires other people around you, help people in becoming a contributing member of society an asset to their country. For an organization to stay optimistic is very necessary as it helps in reducing stress, increases profit, breeds loyalty, makes for a congenial atmosphere, increases productivity, fosters teamwork, solves problems, improves quality and creates a healthy environment in organization. Whenever we are positive we see good things happening around us, we become productive and if we are negative we see bad things and become destructive. You have to take the garbage out otherwise it will start stinking. As we all know Mr Thomas Edison at the age of 67 lost his factory to fire. After watching all his lifetime effort going up in smoke he said â€Å"all our mistakes are burnt up. Thank god we can start anew†. In spite of this whole tragedy he invented the phonograph. What an attitude, what if we all take this attitude and keep looking for sunny side in every situation. It doesn’t mean to overlook the mistakes. It means to learn from the mistakes and move ahead. Don’t get stuck in your past experiences of failure, focus on the future plan. Whenever you feel negative go to a smiling baby. It is found that whenever a baby smiles it omits positive energy. Their aura is positive. One day a kid was playing a game ‘connect 4’ with his father. Father won 10 round consecutively then he stands up and says â€Å"Son, I am bored. I don’t want to play anymore. I am going to bed†. Son replied â€Å"no, it’s not over until I win.† They played several other rounds. After 11 rounds kid won and then he stood up and said â€Å"I am ready to go to sleep now†. This should be the attitude of every person who is chasing his dreams. After facing any failure everyone should say â€Å"it’s not over until I win†. Environment: Environment plays a major role in one’s success. It is seen that majority of the people who are successful spend most of their hours working with the people of their interest. It has been seen that if you spend most of the time with optimistic people your attitude also becomes optimistic and vice versa. You have to choose your environment according to your need. You have to throw negative people out of your life who are draining your energy, who keep telling that you can’t do it, who weaken you. You have to change your environment from negative to positive by being around people who nourish you, who give you energy, appreciate your efforts, encourage you and inspire you. There is a saying that â€Å"birds of a feather flock together†. If you run around with looser you will end up a looser. If you want to become a singer spend your time with singers better than you, if you want to be a dancer spend your time with dancers better than you, if you earn Rs 10,000 a month and want to earn Rs 20,000 start spending your time with the people who are earning RS 20,000. By constantly spending your time with the people of your kind of interest you learn the skill to get the desired result. Take Action: Will to win is worthless until you have the will to prepare. Just by dreaming big, visualizing and spending your time with the right is not fruitful until you take action in order to achieve your goal. It is said that â€Å"Standing on earth thinking of sky, how would you ever get to fly†. You can’t achieve your aim just by visualizing it the whole day; you also have to make a constant effort in order to improvise yourself to get the mastery on the particular subject. It is like sitting in a car and thinking to reach the destination without starting the car. First you have to put the key in then start driving after some time you will reach the destination. So take the step towards your dream. To get the result that only 5% of the population has, you have to have the guts to do what only 5% of the population is willing to do. Jim Rohn says â€Å"you can’t hire other people to do your pushups for you†. To make yourself fit you can’t hire other people to do exercise on your behalf similarly to become successful you can’t rely on anyone else; you have to take action on your own because nobody cares about your dream more than you do. So take action in order to make your dream come true. IV. Conclusion Every single person can achieve his/her aim, everyone can make their dream come true just by deciding â€Å"WHAT, HOW and WHEN†. What do you want? How you are going to get it? And by when you want it? You can achieve you goal. Getting success is like knowing the combination to a lock, if you know the lock it doesn’t matter who you are boy or girl, black or white the lock has to open. By following the steps discussed above everyone can make their dream come true. . We spend years in school learning about the lives of other successful people, but we devote hardly any time at all to studying ourselves. I believe that all of us are unique, have different potential and different qualities but all want to attain their aim. I once heard that everyone is born unique but most of us die copies. The major factor of failure is, not believing in ourselves and doubting our potential. I believe that we all have the capability to produce gold. The paper guides us in finding and nurturing our goodness to unlock the keys to achievement. It motivates us to do what we must do to get on and go on with our lives. Keeping in mind, Shiv Khera’s view that the best idea will not work until we work upon that idea. . My Paper offers practical tips and strategies for pulling yourself out of discouraging situations. Life does not always present us with an ideal situation in which we pursue our dreams. Paper explains how to dream, how to set goals, and how to equip yourself with succeed. Mini Essay on Shakespear Macbeth

Year 11A Callan Brombacher Mini Essay: Macbeth is a â€Å"tragic hero† or the â€Å"dead butcher†? Mrs. Dolman According to Aristotle’s view, a tragic hero is a lead character in literature that evokes a sense of pity from the audience. The character is virtuous and renowned but not entirely good. The hero has a fatal flaw that brings him his success and death. Through the course of the story, the hero commits a great wrong creating a shift from good fortune to bad. This is usually where the sense of pity (that the audience feels for the hero) stems from.At the end of the story the hero looses everything including his life. Macbeth is portrayed as a virtuous character in the opening scenes of â€Å"Macbeth†, by the use of diction and style. Shakespeare uses a laudatory style focused on Macbeth in the opening scenes displaying him as a renowned soldier. He uses the words â€Å"noble, brave, worthy† etcetera, to list some of Macbeth’s virtues. He uplifts Macbeth, by comments from the king such as: â€Å"O, valiant cousin! Worthy gentlemen! †Like all tragic heroes, Macbeth had a fatal flaw. His ambition was one of the reason’s he committed his great wrong. Lady Macbeth knew of his ambition and influenced him to kill Duncan. â€Å"Thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Macbeth, not entirely good himself, is prone to evil. Shakespeare demonstrates this by linking Macbeth to the witches through the use of the words â€Å"fair† and â€Å"foul†. â€Å"Fair is foul and foul is fair. † This phrase was mentioned by the witches. So foul and fair a day†¦. † This phrase was mentioned by Macbeth. Macbeth also expresses no fear for evil, as he shouts commands at the witches. â€Å"Speak, I charge you! † Macbeth’s fortune begins to change for the worse as the play continues. His Subjects become suspicious of him, and he begins to regret killing Duncan, a s it leads to a lack of sleep and insanity. â€Å"Better be with the dead, whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to peace, than on the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy. †The audience feels a sense of pity for Macbeth due to the fact that he did not want to kill Duncan but his ambition and wife’s influence forced his hand. After Duncan’s death Macbeth feels guilt and remorse, wishing he had not committed the crime. In the final scenes of the play, Macbeth loses his wife and sanity, is over thrown and killed by Macduff. Macbeth displays all the characteristics of a tragic hero described by Aristotle, leading me to believe Macbeth is a tragic hero and not a dead butcher.

Are Autoimmune Diseases Killing You - 803 Words

Are Autoimmune Diseases Killing You? The innate/adaptive immune systems are supposed to protect you – what happens when they strike back? Autoimmune diseases: The Immune system is provided by the body to keep the human system healthy, and virus/bacteria free. Autoimmune diseases occur when a T lymphocyte cell escapes the lymphoid and mistakes an organ/system/tissue for a virus, this rogue T cell than instructs B lymphocytes cells to develop antibodies. These special antibodies are known as ‘autoantibodies’ (special blood proteins that target the individual’s body parts). Autoimmune diseases are supposedly triggered, this is a broad group ranging from being inherited or viruses/hormones. Currently there is approx. 80 different types of autoimmune diseases globally, then broadly grouped into two categories ‘organ specific’ (where the diseases effects one particular body part) and ‘non-organ specific’ (where no one organ is targeted, but maybe an entire system). One in twenty people are diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, however depending on the disease the number increases example a rare disease may affect one in a million people. What is the impact?
